Since the re-introduction of chia seeds into our diet, they have been added to many dishes and numerous recipes have sprouted out. They have been used in salad, baked goods puddings and more. Because the seeds absorb up to 10x their weight in water that results in forming tapioca like gel. This property makes it very useful for thickening sauces and jams.

As well, the water absorbing property appears to make one fuller after eating the seeds. Some people are finding that the feeling of fullness helps them eat less and helps them lose weight.
